Upcoming Meeting Details

Meeting Date: March 29, 2010

IEEE West Michigan Consultant's Network
Monday, March 29, 2010 Meeting Announcement

Our next meeting is on Monday, March 29, 2010. Im excited to welcome back, by popular demand, David Stycos who will be speaking on "Cryptography & Security, Part II". Daves first talk was really interesting and very well delivered. Im excited to hear his second part and hope you can make it as well! Here is a short blub on his talk:

Public Key Cryptography makes possible many useful security applications, such as the ability to digitally sign documents and to establish encrypted communications channels over the internet. Its use has become pervasive, so why arent digital signatures more common? Why are the security problems Public Key Crypto purports to solve still with us? As it turns out, the problems lie not with any algorithm, but in how these algorithms are used, and in the dearth of standardized implementations. In this talk, well discuss how Public Key Cryptography works, how its applied, and the issues that must be surmounted in order to more fully realize the benefits these remarkable algorithms can bring us.

The format of the evening is as follows:

6:00pm Dinner at the Grand Rapids Brewing Company (NW corner of 28th St & Lake Eastbrook Blvd)
7:30pm Meeting at DornerWorks (NW corner of Lake Eastbrook Blvd & Camelot)
